Common Sense is a collaborative research project that builds in part on the N-SMARTS and Urban Atmospheres research projects.
We are not alone in exploring mobile participatory sensing. Projects working in the area of mobile, network-connected sensing platforms for public data collection include:
- AIR and Pigeonblog (Preemptive Media)
- CarTel (MIT CSAIL)
- MetroSense (Dartmouth)
- Mobile Urban Sensing (Cambridge)
- Sensor Planet (Nokia)
- SenseWeb (Microsoft Research)
- Urban Sensing (UCLA CENS)
A few of the many projects that capture public geo-referenced environmental data sets include:
- Bucket Brigade (Global Community Monitor)
- Urban Pollution Monitoring (Equator)
